Promise fulfilled

A Promised Kingdom

A Promised Kingdom

Promise fulfilled

"When your days are fulfilled to walk with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for me, and I will establish his throne forever. I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son. I will not take my steadfast love from him, as I took it from him who was before you, but I will confirm him in my house and in my kingdom forever, and his throne shall be established forever." 1 Chron. 17:11-14

A promise was given, a promise was fulfilled. God did raise up Solomon after David to build a physical house for him, the first temple in Jerusalem. That kingdom and lineage did endure to the coming of Jesus  the Christ. Jesus was indeed God in the flesh (John 1:14; Col. 2:9). He addressed God as Father and was condemned for claiming that relationship, but God had given a promise and He kept it.

A forever promise

His kingdom will stand forever. The kingdom of God that Jesus preached was coming. The church that Jesus said He would build (Mt. 16:18). God made a promise and He kept it through His Son. His throne shall stand forever.

The question is, have you submitted to the Lordship of this King of Kings and become a part of His sovereign kingdom? Obedience is a necessity where a king is involved. A promise is made, a promise is kept, but it requires obedience to receive the promised reward (Matt. 7:21)

God bless and have a great day!!

Quick thought: What do we think about?

Quick thought: What do we think about?

There are a lot of things that are troubling..
1) The elevation of homosexuality all around us. Being constantly, told it is acceptable
2) The killing of unborn children
3) The acting as vigilantes in the so-called name of justice
4) Problems in our homes, in our churches, in our country, in our world

So many troubling things.

It can really bring us down, discourage us, disappoint us... BUT, today, here is what I am going to try and think on: The wonderful deeds of God. David wrote in Psalms 9:1b "I will recount all of your wonderful deeds."
How much strength can we gain if we remember God's wonderful deeds? If we remember His hands in the lives of His people in scripture? If we look at His deliverance of His children? His compassion to the needy? His love for all? His amazing creations? OR, what if we remember and recount His wonderful deeds in our own lives? The times He has answered our prayers? Delivered us? Today, I am going to try to think about His wonderful deeds in 1) the lives of those in scripture, 2) and in my own life. Then I can "give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart" (Psalms 9:1a)
